India generates 3.2 million tonnes of electronic waste annually — ranking 3rd globally. Most of this waste is handled by informal recyclers who use open burning, acid baths, and manual dismantling without safety gear.
This releases toxic heavy metals — lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium — into the soil, water, and air. Communities near informal e-waste hotspots face serious public health crises.
Only 22% of India's e-waste is formally recycled. The rest ends up in landfills or with informal recyclers. We're building the infrastructure to change this.
